In this test the specimen is compressed over its entire surface area. Specimens have a square cross-section of 50 or 100 mm.
 
The test generally consists of 3 pre-loading cycles, followed by a measurement cycle in which the characteristic values are determined. Variants of this method are contained in in-house specifications of various companies.
